Sasuchan and Wildland Development are very pleased to introduce our new team members! Welcome Morgan, John, Chelsey, Nicole, and Derek!

Morgan Thideman, HR Generalist

Morgan graduated from the University of Northern British Columbia in 2021 with a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Human Resources Management and General Business. She is currently a Chartered Professional Human Resources (CPHR) Candidate and is scheduled to complete the full CPHR designation in early 2024. 

Before joining Sasuchan, Morgan spent the last five years working in both the Information Technology and Forestry/Environmental sectors. Both industries have had an immense impact on the knowledge she has gained about Human Resources. Morgan specializes in Talent Acquisition and Recruitment, and Training and Development. She is very passionate about Occupational Health and Safety and is always interested to learn and expand her knowledge on it.

In her downtime, Morgan enjoys catching up with friends and family, reading, and checking out the local restaurants that Prince George has to offer. In the future, she would like to travel more; some of her dream destinations include Ireland, France, Thailand, and Hawaii. Morgan enjoys spending time with her dog, Luna – they like to find new places to explore around Prince George. Luna is a 5-year-old terrier and keeps Morgan busy!

John Steward, Construction Project Manager – Wildland Development 

John is a project management professional with experience in the telecommunication, energy, and construction fields. John holds a Professional Project Management (PMP) designation and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management and is a Red Seal Carpenter.

John most recently oversaw the planning and successful installation of 11 remote work camps over an 800km stretch, providing telecommunication services and support. Other projects he has managed include peripheral work on Site C Dam, project coordination for the Town of Smithers Airport Expansion & Fire Department buildings and multiple pipeline projects. John is skilled in scheduling, budgeting, planning, communication, construction, telecom, and pipeline construction.

In his spare time, John enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, and travelling and he is a history buff.

Nicole Broster, Accounts Receivable and Payroll Administrator

Nicole is a highly qualified payroll leader with over eight years of experience. She also has extensive knowledge of the BC Employment Standards. Act & Regulations (BC ESA). Nicole’s previous experience includes processing payroll and invoicing for 600+ employees, and providing information and clarification of BC ESA to employers and employees. Nicole enjoys being faced with new challenges and likes working on streamlining processes to improve efficiencies. 

In her spare time, Nicole loves spending time with her boys, pup, and generally anything that is relaxing. She. enjoys quadding, fishing, biking, and. spending time with her large extended family. Most of her winter is spent in the arena with her boys who play competitive hockey. 

Chelsey T

Chelsey Thiessen, Project Coordinator

Chelsey has joined the Sasuchan team to assist Pat Bredin, Resource Operations Manager and the team on a secondment basis from SBS Forestry. Chelsey has been with SBS for three and a half years and started out as a Field Assistant, then a technician, and then to Crew Leader!

Chelsey’s dedication, hard work, and knowledge has been instrumental in providing her with this opportunity to develop her skills and career in project coordination. 

In her spare time, Chelsey enjoys foraging, hiking, paddling, making art, music and hanging out with my nearly 15-year-old dog, Gherkin. 

Derek McLean, Forestry Supervisor

Derek is a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) with the the Forest Professionals BC. He graduated from Queen’s University with a degree in Environmental Biology and graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Master of Sustainable Forest Management. 

Derek primarily has experience in timber development, especially recce and layout work. He also has experience with First Nations consultation and engagement.

When not at work, Derek enjoys being outside, crafting art projects, or playing with his new puppy. He would love to spend more time travelling, but somehow always spends too much money on new houseplants to consider it seriously.
