On June 19, 2025, Sasuchan hosted its first annual Walk A Mile in My Moccasins Fundraising Golf Tournament. This special afternoon was dedicated to building community, celebrating culture, and raising funds for Indigenous youth. Held at the Prince George Golf & Curling Club, the event brought together Sasuchan staff, partners, and sponsors in support of a cause close to home: Nus Wadeezulh Community School in Takla Landing.
This wasn’t just a day on the course. It was a meaningful step toward investing in the next generation. Together, we raised close to $33,000 — surpassing our original $20,000 goal. Of these funds, approximately $25,000 will go directly to Nus Wadeezulh Community School to enhance cultural learning experiences, purchase classroom and art supplies, and support field trips and extracurricular programming. The school serves around 40 students across three classrooms, from Kindergarten through Grade 9, and supporting it means strengthening educational outcomes, cultural identity, and community connection for Takla Nation youth. In addition, $1,800 was contributed to the Le Jac Residential School Reunion, and $6,000 will be set aside to support future community initiatives.
