The Opportunity:
Reporting to the General Manager of Construction, this integral position will plan and manage housing construction operations with a goal of delivering an exceptional customer experience and industry-leading quality. This role will be responsible to establish positive working relationships with stakeholders, create and oversee large budgets, project schedules, managing supply chain/logistics, and providing direction to subcontractors as needed. This position will provide strong leadership in all aspects of the work in accordance with all company and industry regulatory health, safety & environmental standards & procedures.
As the Construction Project Manager, you have an eye for details, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, and have led and managed building projects from start to finish – on time and on budget. The successful candidate will be highly organized; have advanced knowledge of the construction management process; bring a positive attitude to work daily and take pride in building solid relationships with clients, while being an integral member of the successful growth of the company.
Primary Responsibilities
- Undertake planning activities for all housing construction projects from conception to completion, monitoring and controlling the budget, schedule and communicating with project stakeholders appropriately to ensure satisfaction;
- Writing and applying to funding opportunities applications to improve housing standards on reserve, implementing associated projects when funding is won;
- Prepare a detailed construction execution schedule and ensures activities and sub-trades move according to the schedule;
- Negotiates and prepares contracts and settles revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with clients, subcontractors and suppliers;
- Creates and negotiates project change order documentation as needed during the construction process, ensuring all stakeholders are aware of changing schedule, budget and deliverables;
- Ensures site safety and environmental standards are met or exceeded and perform risk assessment and mitigation;
- Manage safety compliance in accordance with WorkSafe BC and company policies;
- Obtains all necessary permits and licenses;
- Manage financial aspects of contracts to protect the company’s interest and maintain respectable relationships with clients;
- Prepare and submit budget estimates, cost tracking, invoices, and work in progress tracking;
- Travel to the site to review work and progress of sub-trades, reviewing quality and implementing changes if needed;
- All other duties as assigned.
Experience and Technical Competencies
- 7-10 years experience in a construction management/development role;
- 5+ years’ managing contracts, estimating and management of projects up to $15M;
- Knowledge of Construction Documents, Drawings, Specifications, current Construction practices;
- Working knowledge of regulations, Building Codes, Zoning Bylaws, and Health & Safety legislation;
- Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license or out of province equivalent;
- Post-Secondary Education in Construction, Engineering/Technical Training, Managerial /Supervisory Skills Training; or
- Red Seal Journeyman in Carpentry or related trade;
- Professional Designation such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Professional Engineer (P.ENg), PHBI Master Builder certification;

- Must have strong computer skills and experience, M/S Office, and Project management information systems experience and aptitude essential;
Working Conditions
- Working in remote locations for periods of time may be required.
- May require long hours to meet specific deadlines, therefore flexibility in work schedule with the option to telecommute is necessary.
Salary:
- Range: $100,000.00-$140,000.00 annually. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
